Our designs are inspired by wonderful and alluring shapes found in nature, so we have all the more reason to be respectful to her. This starts with the materials we use. We choose natural-fiber and sustainable fabrics where possible –– hemp canvas, organic cotton canvas, EcoSpun, and more. Our vibrant hues are produced using fiber-reactive, low-metal, low-sulfur, formaldehyde-free dyes. And just in case you get caught out in the rain, we've started treating our canvas bags with Nikwax, a solvent-free, water-based solution.

Do we really have to cause great suffering in order to have gorgeous accessories? We don't think so. So we look at alternatives to leather and skins -- like Treetap "wild rubber." Not familiar with it? It’s a really neat leather alternative that’s made in the Amazon rainforest by native communities interested in preserving their natural resources, not watching their trees harvested and their land cleared around them. We can do without the killing and all those nasty chemicals that go into preserving and conditioning leather.

With so many manufacturers sourcing materials and cheap labor in far-away places, isn't it nice to know some people still take pride in supporting the good old U-S of A? Our continuing hope is that manufacturers and consumers alike will recognize (soon) that places like China and India will not always be able to offer low labor costs, and that it's worthwhile keeping investment dollars and expertise at home.
